Saddled with an enormous debt from the 1980s, Poland's most important foreign assistance was the cancellation of half of its debt by the Paris Club. A London Club agreement for commercial debt is still outstanding. The IMF, EBRD and EU have all taken an active role in supporting Poland's pioneering stabilization and reform program.
